Adoption Day!!!

On 11/02/2010 we had our first family breakfast together which went great, Liam can really eat!! He didn't say no to anything I put on his plate.  We had to meet with the Civil affairs officers at 8:30 am and with some paperwork and a few questions we are now officially the legal parents of Liam Panshu!!! Yeah!!!
The Asst. Director of the Ophanage came to me and told me that Liam Panshu was very loved starting from the Director and of course all the nannys adored him.  She told me that everyday someone would always bring him little extra food like bread, corn or milk.  I feel that the Universe has been looking out for Liam Panshu since the day he was born and I know we have been blessed with a wonderful human being.

Our Gotcha Day!!!

Hey Everyone, hope you enjoyed the Gotcha Pics!! Well what can I say about Gotcha day, it was great!!!! We arrived to a Hotel about 10 minutes from were we are staying and the guide informed us that they were all ready in town and would arrive in about 15 min. Those 15 min. felt like about an hour we were both nervous sometime we would look at each other and just start laughing, I guess that was just our nerves.  Finally sitting on the hotel couch I look to my left and I see Liam Panshu's face fly by, OMG they are here!!!!! My guide told me to be ready for anything.  As soon as they walk into the door, my heart just melted Liam Panshu is still the most beautiful boy I have ever seen in my life.  The person who was with him was the Asst. Director of the Orphanage, my guide quickly started to talk to Liam PanShu and let him know it was Mama and Baba but his eyes were full of fear and confusion. Of course, he started to cry and the director wanted to walk away with him, but my guide asked her to please stay and to put him on the floor to see if that would help.  IT DIDN'T!! Liam started to pull back and was looking for the first door to run too.  Our hearts where just breaking, how we just wanted him to feel better.  Finally the Director picked him up and handed him to me, and there it was I was a Mom to a screaming 2 year old.  I know it sounds crazy but it still was the greatest moment of my life!!! We quickly we over to the couch to try to sooth him, I asked the guide to take out the photo album we sent to show who we were.......nothing still crying. Thank God for my hubby, he took Liam from my arms, and just began to rock him and quickly Liam Panshu was quiet.  Talk about a SuperDad saving the day.  We then took a few pictures for furture paperwork and we quickly left because Liam was running a fever and has a runny nose.  So the last couple of days we have been the hotel taking care of his cold.  I will write soon and let you guys know how he is doing.  Enjoy the pics.

Hola a todos, espero que haya disfrutado de las fotos Gotcha! Bueno lo que puedo decir sobre el día de Gotcha, fue genial!! Llegamos a un hotel a unos 10 minutos desde nos hospedamos y la guía nos informó que todos estaban listos, y que ya estaban en la ciudad y llegaría en unos 15 min. Los 15 min. sentía como una hora estábamos nerviosos en algún momento nos miramos y me pongo a reír, supongo que eso era sólo nuestros nervios. Por último sentado en el sofá del hotel miro a mi izquierda y veo volar la cara de Liam Panshu por la ventena, OMG están aquí !!!!! Mi guía me dijo estar listo para cualquier cosa. Tan pronto como entran a la puerta, mi corazón se derritió Liam Panshu sigue siendo el nene más bello que he visto en mi vida. La persona que estaba con él era el Asistente. Director del orfanato, mi guía rápidamente empezó a hablar con Liam PanShu y hacerle saber que era Mama y Baba, pero sus ojos estaban llenos de miedo y confusión. Por supuesto, él comenzó a llorar y la directoria quería llevareslo un lado para calmarlo, pero mi guía le pidió que por favor, estancia y lo puso en el suelo para ver si eso ayuda. Para Nada! Liam empezó a retirarse y fue en busca de la primera puerta a correr. Nuestros corazones estaba rompiendo, la forma en que sólo quería que él se sienta mejor. Por último, el Director lo levantó y le entregó a mí, y allí estaba yo era una mamá a un nene de 2 años, gritando. Sé que suena loco, pero aún así fue el mejor momento de mi vida! Rápidamente nos estamos al sofá para tratar de calmar, le pregunté a la guía para sacar el álbum de fotos que envió para mostrar quiénes éramos pero nada ....... sigue llorando. Gracias a Dios por mi esposo, tomó Liam de mis brazos, y sólo empezó a mecerlo y rápidamente Liam Panshu estaba en silencio. Hablar de un Superdad salvar el día. A continuación, tomó unas cuantas fotos para el papeleo futuro y rápidamente nos fuimos  porque Liam tenía una fiebre y tiene una nariz que moquea. Así que los dos últimos días hemos sido el hotel el cuidado de su resfriado. Voy a escribir pronto y dejar que ustedes saben que él está haciendo. Disfruta de las fotos.

Things for Liam PanShu & Shopping

Today, at 12 noon we went shopping with our guide, she informed us this is only her second time in Inner Mongolia that last time was about 5 yrs ago and it kinda nice because we have her ALL to ourselves.  She has been a true blessing for us today, we took a cab to a shopping center about 10 minutes from the Hotel and as soon as my husband and I got out of the taxi a couple of people stood back and stared us down.  Our guide told us there is very few Americans that come thru Hohhot and it may be the first time for many people to see a foreign person. We did notice that unlike Beijing, none of the traffic or store signs have english translations it is in Chinese and Mongolian letters. 

 

I wanted to buy Liam some milk and rice cereal but I was not sure what brand the Orphanage gives him, and of course our wonderful guide calls the Orphanage and the nana told her it was Nestle, she also told our guide that PanShu is very loved  and many nanas are taking pictures with him and kind of giving him extra attention before he leaves.  I was told that all the Nanas love his eyes and that he is talking but he only speaks to certain people he knows, otherwise he is quiet. This is great information, and little heart breaking knowing that in just a few hours it will be the greatest moment of our lives and probably a huge nightmare for our boy.  I ask everyone to please pray for Him and that his attachment to us will be smooth.

Hoy, a las 12 medio dia nos fuimos de compras con nuestro guía, nos informó esto es sólo la segunda vez en Mongolia Interior, que la última vez fue hace unos 5 años y es agradable porque la tenemos para nosotros solitos. Ella ha sido una verdadera bendición para nosotros hoy, tomamos un taxi a un centro comercial cerca de 10 minutos del hotel y tan pronto  mi marido y yo salímos del taxi un par de personas se apartó y se quedó mirandonos. Nuestro guía nos dijo que hay muy pocos norteamericanos que vienen a través de Hohhot y puede ser la primera vez para muchas personas ver a una persona extranjera. Si notamos la diferencia de Beijing, ninguna de las señales de tráfico o tienda tienen traducciones en Inglés solamente tiene letras chinas y mongolas.

Yo quería comprar Liam un poco de cereal y la leche de arroz, pero no estaba seguro de lo que marca el orfanato le da, y por supuesto nuestro guía maravillosa llama al orfanato y la nana le dijo que era de Nestlé, también le dijo a nuestro guía que PanShu es muy querido y que muchas nanas están tomando fotos con él y dandole atención especial antes de irse. Me dijeron que todas las Nanas le encantan los ojos de Liam Panshu y tambien él está hablando, pero sólo habla a ciertas personas que conoce, de lo contrario, es tranquilo. Esta es una gran información, y me romper el corazón sin saber que en tan sólo unas horas será el momento más grande de nuestras vidas y, probablemente, una pesadilla enorme para nuestro hijo. Pido a todos que por favor oren por él y que su apego a nosotros será suave.

What we did today.......

This morning we woke up at about 3:30 AM, not that we had to but we just couldn't sleep anymore thinking about our travel to Inner Mongolia.  We had to meet our group in the Hotel Lobby at 5:15 and well we were there at 4:30......... Yep 4:30AM. The plane ride lasted only one hour, and when we got off the plane............It was freezing!!!!!! Mind you me and my hubby are from Puerto Rico and are use to 70 or 80 degree weather and this was a shock for us!!! I could actually see my breath, Wow!!!! Our guide told us that the driver commented it was a warm day compared to the other days.  Oh boy, we just brought very light jackets...... well we have to go shopping and that is never bad for me! Ha-Ha. 
 
We our guide took us thru our check in and accompanied us to our room and once she open the first thing we saw was the Baby Crib and there it hit me, in 24 hours we will be parents!!
My heart started to race a little bit, so the first thing I did was open up all the suitcases and started taking out bottles, pampers, Cheerios ,toys and just started to SET UP the room for Liam PanShu (sometimes organizing helps to clam me).  We will be heading out at 12 noon with the guide to get the last few detail for Liam. So on 11/01/2010 at 11:00am we will meet Liam!!!  We  are counting down the hours!!!!

Esta mañana nos despertamos a las 3:30 AM, no es que tuvimos,  pero simplemente no podía dormir más de pensar en nuestro viaje a Mongolia Interior. Tuvimos que encontarnos  con nuestro grupo en el Lobby del Hotel a las 5:15am y estuvimos allí a las 4:30 ......... Sí las 4:30 AM. El viaje en avión sólo duró una hora, y cuando nos bajamos del avión ............ Por poco nos congelamos !!!!!! Eso sí yo y mi esposo son de Puerto Rico y la clima es de 70 o 80 grados y esto fue un shock para nosotros! De hecho, me veía mi aliento, ¡Wow!! Nuestro guía nos dijo que el conductor comentó que era un día cálido en comparación con los otros días. OH Boy, traimos chaquetas muy "light" ...... así que tenemos que ir de compras y que nunca es malo para mí! Ha-Ha.
 
Nuestro guía nos llevó por el proceso de Check in y nos acompañó a nuestra habitación y una vez abierta la puerta lo primero que vimos fue la cuna del bebé y alli me di de cuenta, en 24 horas vamos a ser padres! Mi corazón empezó a correr un poco, así que lo primero que hice fue abrir todas las maletas y empezó a sacar botellas, pañales, Cheerios, juguetes y acaba de empezar a arreglar el cuarto para Liam PanShu (a veces la organización me tranquiliza). Vamos a salir a las 12 medio dia  con la guía para obtener los detalles últimos de Liam. So el dia 11/01/2010 at 11:00 am vamos conocer a Liam!!! Estamos contando las horas!!

2 days of Tours ...... 2 dias de Turismo (Day 1)

Hey Everyone, well the last 2 days we have been touring China!! Since we arrived one day earlier we wanted to take advantage of the time and see Beijing from other point of view.

As everyone knows Beijing has many sky raise building and is a modern city, today we took a tour called the Hutong tour to show us the other side of China. Our guide's name was Lotus, she took us to the Bell Tower and Drum Tower and after a looong 69 steps to get to the top , we found ourselves listening to group of performers banging on the large drums showing how in ancient time they  let the common people the time of day and also the change in season.  After the performance we went down to the street and we took a we took a ride inside a rural area where you can really see the poverty in China. It was heart breaking.  At the end of the tour we had lunch with a "common" Chinese family. She made excellent food and I tried a bit of everything.  Enjoy the Pics!!!

Hola a todos, los últimos dos días hemos estado de gira por China! Desde que llegamos un día antes quería aprovechar el tiempo y ver Beijing desde otro punto de vista.Como todo el mundo sabe de Beijing ha muchos edificios y es una ciudad moderna, hoy en día tomamos un tour llamado Hutong para mostrarnos la otra cara de China. El nombre de nuestro guía fue Lotus, que nos llevó a la Torre de la Campana y la Torre del Tambor y después de una laaarga 69 pasos para llegar al final, nos encontramos escuchando a un grupo de jovens tocando los tambores grandes que muestra cómo en la  antigüedad China  dejar saber a la gente común  la hora del día y también el cambio de temporada. Después de la actuación nos fuimos a la calle y tomamos un tour por el interior de una zona rural se puede realmente ver la pobresa en China. realmente me romper el corazón. Al final de la gira que tuvimos un almuerzo con un familia china "común" . Ella hizo una excelente comida y he intentado un poco de todo. Disfruta las fotos!

 

2 days of Tours ...... 2 dias de Turismo (Day 2)‏ more fotos!!!

Hello Everyone, just got back from the 2 day of tours and I'm exhaused!! So this entry will be short and sweet. We visited the following:

• Tian'anmen Square
• Monument to People's Heros
• Forbidden City
• Temple of Heaven
• Jade Factory
• Great Wall of China

All the pictures included one of each place that we visited.

We are in CHINA!!!

We finally made it to China!! After almost 24 hours of flight and a delay of almost an hour and half in New York, We made our flight in Chicago with about a hour to spare.

We have arrived to the hotel already and are completely worn out!!! We also met up with our friends in Chicago,Waleska and Angel they are also adopting in China, they are a wonderful couple and I can wait until our kids meet. Well, I will be writing more tommorrow after we get some greatly needed rest.  The picture is me and my hubby when we finally boarded the flight to China.  
 

Por fin llegamos China! Después de casi 24 horas de vuelo y una demora de casi una hora y media en Nueva York, hicimos nuestro vuelo en Chicago con cerca de una hora..
Hemos llegado al hotel y ya está completamente agotados! También nos reunimos con nuestros amigos en Chicago, Waleska y Ángel que también están adoptando en China, son una pareja maravillosa y no puedo esperar hasta que nuestros hijos se conoscan. Bueno, voy a escribir más mañana después de descansar un poco. La foto es de mi esposo y yo cuando finalmente abordó el vuelo con destino a China.

Only  a few more hours and we are off to China!!! and we are  just trying to control our excitement!!! We are so nervous and trying to make sure that no loose ends are left before we head out.  I'm actually proud of myself, up to now only 3 suitcases.  I must have packed at least 10-15 outfits for Liam Panshu not sure what size he may be 18 months or 24 months or 2T so just in case, I PACKED ALL 3 sizes, I plan that what ever sizes does not fit him I will donate to the Baotou SWI (Ophanage). These last 2 weeks we have been just floating on air thinking about how our Gotcha Day will be and how our forever family will finally be formed!!! For some of my friends, I'm leaving a brief history of Baotou,Inn Mongolia since they were curios what part of China my son is from.  Take Care and signing off untill Beijing Time!!!!

Baotou is the largest industrial city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Baotou is a city with

37 nationalities. The people of Mongolia, Han, Man, Hui, Dawuer and Ewenke can all be found here.

It has a population of 2,335,600, among whom 1,407,600 are city dwellers.

The total area of Baotou covers 27, 768 square kilometers, 160. 6 square kilometers of which

is urbanised. It's an important industrial base for metallurgy, machinery, chemicals and energy

in China. It is also abundant in rare earth.

¡Sólo unos horas mas y nosotros vamos a China!!! ¡Estamos tratando de controlar nuestro entusiasmo!!! Estamos tan nerviosos y tratando de asegurarse de que ningunos detalles se cada. Estoy realmente orgullosa porque, empacque solamente 3 maletas. Debo haber empacado por lo menos 10-15 cambio de ropa para Liam Panshu, no estoy seguro qué tamaño él puede ser 18 meses, o 24 meses, o 2T  por si acaso, EMPAQUE los 3 tamaños, mis planes son que los tamaño que no le serbe lo donaré al Baotou SWI (Ophanage). ¡Estas últimas 2 semanas estamos soñando y piensado cómo sera nuestro Día de Gotcha y ese dia por fin vamos ser familia para siempre officialmente!!! Tengo algunos de mis amigos, que yo le dejo una historia breve de Baotou, Inner Mongolia porque ellos tiene  la curiosidad de qué parte de China es mi hijo. ¡Que Dios los bendigan y escribiré pronto de Beijing, China!!!!

Baotou es la ciudad de mayor tamaño de toda la región autónoma de Mongolia Interior.

Ocupa un área de 27.691 km cuadrados y su población es de aproximadamente 2.335.600 habitantes.

Las nacionalidades con mayor presencia la Han, mongoles, manchúes, Hui, Daur y Ewenki.

Está situada en la orilla norte del río Amarillo y muy cerca del desierto de Gobi. Su nombre proviene del idioma mongol y significa "tierra de ciervos".  El clima es semi árido con veranos e inviernos de temperaturas extremas.  Su economía se basa en la industria, destacando los sectores dedicados a la manufactura del hierro y del acero.

Birthday Update!!!! Celebrando su Cumpleaños!!!!

Wow, unexpected update today!!!! Ann from Red Thread.com sent me a photo of Liam Pan Shu enjoying his Birthday Cake. He looks so happy and is with all his little friends and that is what we wanted for him, to enjoy his special day. Of course I cried when I saw his beautiful smile and the light in his eyes, I see that our baby boy is full of love for life and that also he is greatly loved at the Boutou SWI.  Just a few more days baby boy and we will be a family!!!!! Big Kiss from Mama and Baba!!!

¡Ah, actualización inesperada hoy! !!! Ann de RedTheard.com me envió dos fotos de Liam Pan Shu que disfrutando de su bizcocho de cumpleaños. Se ve tan feliz y está con todo sus amigitos y eso es lo que deseamos para él, que disfrutara de su día especial. Por supuesto lloré cuando vi su hermosa sonrisa y la luz en los ojos, yo veo que mi nene está lleno del amor para la vida y también es adorado mucho en el Boutou SWI. ¡Sólo unos pocos de días y nosotros serán una familia! !!!! ¡Un Beso grande de la Mamá y Baba!!!

Hoy es un día tan especial! ¿Cómo nos duele querer estar ahí para ver cuando soplar las velas del bizcocho.  Cómo me gustaría que nos puede escuchar cantando para el día de tu cumpleaños! Liam Feliz cumpleaños! Tu es lo más maravilloso que le ha sucedido a nosotros y no podemos esperar a que este en nuestros brazos.
